Veterinary acupuncture is offered by Dr. Kate Barnewitz here at Shorewood Animal Hospital. According to Dr. Barnewitz, "Acupuncture is an ancient therapy used for pain management, progressive and degenerative musculoskeletal diseases, gastrointestinal conditions, neurologic conditions, and symptomatic care for patients with cancer and can be used in conjunction with Western medicinal therapies".
The Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine describes acupuncture as "a treatment that involves the stimulation of points, typically achieved through the insertion of specialized needles into the body."
